A burnt warehouse by any other name would smell as bad
The High Forest
Nova wakes up in the High Forest on her birthday but did not receive the usual birthday present from her dad
Nova skipped out of history class to hang out with druids who were holding a debate between birds on the relative
merits of monogamy (debate outcome: unclear)
Nova snuck into the elven council chambers at night to use the scrying crystal
Faerie Fire did not illuminate it but Nova's lantern did
Nova saw her dad surrounded by goblins, tied up, clearly in trouble
Nova left the High Forest to go find him
Waterdeep Dock Ward
Tikva, a member of a mercenary group of misfits led by a half-orc named Mother receives a mission to go investigate a
warehouse and find any suspicious clues or activity that could suggest arson or lead to a culprit
Tikva takes Huey, Dewey, and Louie, three duck-aarakocra to inspect the warehouse
Click is out in Waterdeep on his regular rounds and spies the group's activities and stays hidden
Tikva tries to discipline Huey, Dewey, and Louie
The warehouse is burnt out, whatever remains has been already emptied, the floor is covered in ash, now with duck feet
all over it
Click sneaks in and finds some of the tracks through the ash inside the warehouse indicate somebody wearing a robe or
cloak and moving a large wooden frame around, but the tracks disappear abruptly
Tikva leaves the three aarakocra to head back to HQ and sees a hooded figure rowing away from the warehouse out into
the open harbour
Lord Percy's Estate
Giles comes across a secret garden party with Lord Percival "Percy" Valeblossom and three young inebriated women
Lord Percy hails Giles as a genius gardener, a masterful touch with all flowers, responsible for the entire garden,
and offers him wine, and invites him to join them on the condition that he never speak a word of this night afterwards
Giles accepts the wine but declines to stay
The next day Giles inspects the location and finds a spilled wine carafe overgrown with weeds as though the plants had
grown profusely overnight
Giles cannot come to any firm conclusion but perhaps some magic was used to make the plants grow?
Giles writes a letter to Old Johnny, his mentor and teacher, and hands it to Avis the porter since Lord Percy has not
risen for the day yet
A few days pass, Giles' curiosity leads him to look into the windows of the house as he gardens, the other servants
are displeased with his apparent spying and tell him to mind his own business and do his job
Giles confronts Lord Percy at his al fresco breakfast setting, asking him what that night was about
Lord Percy is very displeased and implores Giles to stop talking about it so loudly
Giles asks if his letter was delivered and Lord Percy says yes which Giles determines is somehow untrue
Giles walks away and spends all day walking, at first down a huge driveway lined with trees, then through the
countryside along a dirt road, uncertain how long or how far he walks
Giles notes that once he is outside the grounds of the estate, none of the plants or trees are flowering
The Road to Waterdeep
Sahra has been travelling by foot on her own search that has nearly led her to Waterdeep
Sahra sits by the road to eat and is robbed by three goblins using a net, knives, bows and arrows
Sahra offers the goblins 1 gold piece
A goblin approaches Sahra to cut her coin purse from her belt and she casts Chill Touch
The goblin recoils and after some debate, the goblins decide to leave Sahra alone and take their 1 gold
Giles arrives, walking down the road, hungry and dehydrated, and asks Sahra if she is on her way to Lord Percy's
Estate
Sahra tells Giles she never heard of such a place, she came from Baldur's Gate to the south
Sahra shares some rations with Giles
Nova arrives and cheerfully helps the two make camp for the night, staying together for safety
In the night, Nova awakes to a sound and with lantern lit, sees a hare leap from the undergrowth and escape
Nova returns to bed where she sees Giles sleeping on the soft earth and Sahra sleeping on a bedroll
